Where to Eat Brunch in Nice, France: A Guide for Foodies [2024]

Looking for some of the best brunch restaurants in Nice? You’ve come to the right place! There’s nothing like a delicious brunch to start your day off right. In this guide, I share some restaurants to help you find the perfect brunch spot for your taste buds, whether you’re a foodie or simply looking for fuel for your body.

When I first moved to Nice, the brunch culture had not really been adopted. You had to go to a café and have a traditional French breakfast: a hot drink, fresh squeezed juice, a pastry and/or baguette. Traditional French breakfasts still exist today and are a great way to start the day. But sometimes, you just want to treat yourself to a satisfying brunch!

Brunch restaurants in Nice have been opening up like crazy (thanks to its international tourists?) so naturally, I’m inclined to try as many restaurants as I can.

Below are my recommendations of where to eat brunch in Nice during your trip to the south of France. Whether you prefer a cozy or trendy café, you’ll find a brunch restaurant in Nice to suit your taste and budget.

Clay

Clay is a popular brunch restaurant situated near the port on one of Nice’s most popular streets, Rue Bonaparte. They offer a good range of delish dishes made of quality ingredients such as eggs with truffle, avocado toast, a varied selection of pancakes, french toast, and bagel sandwiches.

Once you’re done eating at Clay’s, walk just a few minutes to the port to gawk at the yachts or wander through the Old Town

Comme Un Dimanche

Comme Un Dimanche is one of the most creative brunch restaurants in Nice. It’s also one of my favorites!

Comme Un Dimanche really puts their own spin on brunch. Depending what’s on the menu that week, you can find pancakes made of pistachio or hazelnut and waffles made of sweet potato. Their bacon, egg, cheese, and potatoes sandwich (one of my fav dishes) uses a super soft, melt-in-your-mouth brioche that’ll blow your mind with each bite.

They’re open five days a week and serve up an extensive sweet and savory menu. Before 12pm, you can only order from their brunch menu. After 12pm, you can order from either the brunch or lunch menu.

Edmond Café

Edmond Café is a small, yet popular brunch restaurant in the Carré d’Or neighborhood in Nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating, which is really welcoming on a warm sunny day.

You can find traditional brunch items on the menu such as pancakes and Eggs Benedict. Edmond Café makes their own desserts so if you prefer sweet dishes for breakfast, you’ll definitely have options here.

Edmond Café doesn’t take reservations so if the restaurant is full, you should expect to wait.

Kind & Co

Kind & Co

If you’re looking for a healthy and satisfying meal in Nice, Kind & Co. is the place to be. With its deliciously fresh and organic food, and cozy, inviting atmosphere, and commitment to using fresh, organic ingredients, Kind & Co is sure to become your new favorite spot.

Kind & Co serves breakfast and lunch most days of the week. However, their brunch menu is offered exclusively on Sundays. They offer two brunch menus, each with the option to order one hot and one cold drink along with one salty and one sweet dish. The main difference between the two brunch menus is the portion size of their salty dishes.

Whether you’re craving a classic avocado toast or a more adventurous dish like their shakshouka, you’re sure to find something to excite your taste buds.

La Femme du Boulanger

La Femme du Boulanger

If you’re looking for traditional French brunch cuisine in Nice, look no further than the family-run La Femme du Boulanger.

Located just off the Promenade des Anglais, La Femme du Boulanger offers a large menu, serving a variety of freshly baked breads with pastries, jams, cheeses, fruits, eggs, and drinks to start your day off right. You’ll also get to choose between ham or salmon, and cottage cheese or yogurt to go along with everything else.

If you go after 12pm, you’ll also have the option to pick dishes from their lunch menu if you’re not in the mood for breakfast.

Le Makassar

Le Makassar offers up a unique brunch experience. They offer a variety of brunch menus you can pick from, ranging from sweet to savory, from English to Mediterranean cuisine. Pictured above:

  • Mediterranean brunch menu: chicken shawarma in pita, falafel, roasted potatoes, hummus, eggplant caviar, and a few other dips
  • Anglo Sax brunch menu: pancake burger with chicken, eggs, cheese and bacon, mac & cheese, potatoes, and roasted mushrooms

Regardless which menu you pick, you’ll also get juice, a hot drink, bread, jam, cheese, yogurt, and fruit.

If you’re a cheese lover, then Le Makassar is a great place for brunch! For the cheese part of your menu, you’ll get to pick the cheeses you want from their cheese buffet.

Le Makassar’s brunch will definitely fill you up at a reasonable price, and is a great way to start your day exploring Nice and the surrounding towns!

Maranna

Maranna

Maranna is a small brunch spot located in the Old Town. They’re open daily and offer two menu options to pick from: one drink & two dishes or one drink & four dishes.

You can pick from savory and sweet dishes such as pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs with truffle, or toasts. I’m obsessed with their toppings like speculoos, ice cream, and fruits. They also have maple syrup, hazelnut and caramel coulis.

Depending on the time or day of the week you go to Maranna, there may be some wait to get a table.

Miss B.

Miss B. is a cozy restaurant and café located in the center of Nice. They’re open five days a week including weekends.

Miss B. offers up tasty, traditional breakfast items such as pancakes, french toast, breakfast bowls, and eggs. They also have a lunch menu if you’re not in the mood for breakfast. The lunch menu usually consists of about five dishes to pick from.

On Saturdays, you have the option to order their brunch menu (~25 euros) where you get two drinks and several plates of food.

Paper Plane

Paper Plane

Paper Plane is a delicious vegan restaurant serving brunch on Sundays. They also offer breakfast and lunch on Tuesdays through Saturday.

Their brunch includes a selection of one dish from their salty plates, one dish from the sweets menu, a hot drink, and their juice of the day.

As it’s a small locally-run restaurant, their menu has limited options and changes each week. Regardless of what’s on the menu, Paper Plane always serves up fresh and tasty dishes! Be sure to check their website to see the latest menu.

Zeni Coffee

Zeni Coffee is a quaint brunch restaurant located in the Carré d’Or neighborhood in Nice. What I really like about this restaurant, aside from how friendly the service is, is how they put a spin on typical brunch dishes.

For instance, I ordered their chicken & cheese pancake burger which was really good! The chicken and side of potatoes were seasoned really well.

If a pancake burger is not your taste, then you can certainly order more traditional dishes such as pancake with maple syrup, Eggs Benedict, avocado toast, and much more.
